KAT FEATURES

The KAT system captures the Desired Movement, and then helps the wearer Self-Correct it, with instructive vibrations FELT through the sensors DURING the movement.

Train Any Movement

Train an athlete’s awareness of their position and movement within customized margins of error controlled from your phone.

Up to 3 sensors can be used simultaneously. Put one KAT on the hip, and another on the forearm to capture and train peak vertical acceleration during a basketball jump shot, or one on the hip, and shoulder for optimal timing of rotational acceleration and separation during a baseball or golf swing.

Intuitive user interface with image-assist and real time data visualizations helps the user determine KAT placement on the body for static and dynamic movements.

Train Any Movement

Capture & RetroCapture

The Capture button commands KAT sensors to ‘memorize and store’ its own kinematic values while an athlete is executing a position or movement. Allows athletes and coaches quickly store the sensation of the skill they want the athlete to experience and replicate, and later, to recognize and retrieve during solo and deliberate practice.

RetroCapture allows an athlete or coach to quickly tag and save the KAT’s motion data from the PRIOR action. For example, with the KAT gesture recognition feature, a hitter could record all the ‘feel-good swings’ during practice by double tapping a hip-worn sensor or pressing a button on the app immediately AFTER a particular swing. That swing’s kinematics can become the new Target, and the motion data can be visually overlaid on top of other “feel good swing” data for later analysis in the portal.

Feedback & Training Modes

Feedback options include the dose, type, and timing of audio and vibratory feedback, and are based on neuroscience principles of attention, motor learning, muscle memory formation, sensory occlusion and more.

Teaching modes use the principles of motor learning in direct Instruction, Exploration, Habit Break and Error Comprehension for athletes’ mastery of their sensorimotor space.

Precise Control

Margins of Error (MOE): Slider bars on the app quickly and easily allow for precise control of the Target Zone and Feedback settings. Global slider settings at all activate parameters equally. Or Assymetrical MOE for each Target value can be set in each plane separately

Incremental adjustments of Target value:  Tap plus (+) or minus(-) settings to redefine incrementally adjust the target value without having to re-capture a target.

Movement Guidance— Corrective vibrations in Binary Feedback can indicate whether a  Target was achieved or not, or Gradient Feedback works like your car’s collision warning system,  with louder and faster beeps/vibrations to guide the wearer into and through the movement.

Precise Control

Cued Practice

Allows an athlete to design and follow scripted audio or vibratory cues to start and stop individual repetitions. After a session, kinematic results such as the magnitude and direction of the differences between the Target movement and the Actual movement is stored and can be immediately available from the phone after each session. For example, an athlete could learn the if the lag time between maximum hip and shoulder acceleration occurred within the target margins of error, or not. The athlete then learns what different timing feels like, and can adapt accordingly.

KAT Force: Capture and train the optimal weight transfer in hitting or throwing sports with force-measuring insole sensors for specific skills.

KAT Optic: Capture and train optimal eye movement patterns when an athlete’s gaze duration at or trajectory to a particular target is longer than desired.

Record sessions of kinematic data from the sensors, add timestamped event markers, and live video and audio directly from your phone during recording for quick review. Quickly label and send files via email or to the portal, directly from your phone. All data can be stored in the portal for further analysis.
