FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is it?

It's a patented training tool for sport and rehab. The KAT is a body-worn feedback device controlled by an app. It's customizable for almost any movement at almost any skill level.

  • What does it do?

The KAT device 'learns' a position or movement, then 'teaches' it back to the wearer using beeps and vibrations. It gives consistent and precise feedback based on the wearer's movements. Offers multi-plane margin of error adjustments in real time.

  • How does it work?

Attach the KAT to the athlete where needed: head, hips, torso, limbs.  Then ask athlete to hold a position.  Press Capture button to label save that position. As the athlete practices,  the KAT device compares wearer's movement with the captured movement, and provides audio and haptic feedback in-real time. Offers four different training modes to reinforce or discourage motor patterns in different ways.

  • How is it different?

It is not a passive monitor nor a passive motion tracker.  It is an interactive training tool designed for movement educators and movers: coaches, athletes, clinicians and patients.

  • What is a Module?

A module is a set of screens  in the app that guides the KAT wearer through specific exercises to train awareness and control for general movements and for specific skills.  These exercises are used in skill learning and practice and also for neural priming when done immediately before before practice/competition. There are modules for core athletic movements,  functional movements and others for specific sports skills.

  • Who created it?

The KAT (Kinesthetic Awareness Training) system was created by former world-ranked professional athlete, coach and current neuroscientist with a MA in sport science and  PhD focused on motor learning.
